Groundbreaking Ceremony

Village Church in Blythewood is excited to announce the groundbreaking ceremony for its new 1200 seat Worship Center on March 30th, following the 11:00am service at approximately 12:15pm. This significant event marks a milestone in the church’s journey to accommodate the growing population and number of new families in surrounding communities.

The building project has been deemed Village Church’s LEGACY OF FAITH – believing that everyone who plays a role in this expansion is leaving a legacy of faith for future generations.

Village Church, which has been a cornerstone of the Columbia community for over 20 years, is expanding to meet the needs of their vibrant and growing congregation. The new building will be on the property of the existing church, located at 574 Rimer Pond Road in Blythewood. This new worship center will be the largest event venue in the northeast area, designed to serve the community and equip families to hear the gospel and grow in their faith for years to come.

“We are thrilled to embark on this new chapter,” said Erik Estep, Pastor of Village Church. “Our church has always been a place of spiritual growth, fellowship, and support. This new building will allow us to better serve our community and meet the needs of our growing congregation.”

The groundbreaking ceremony will include a brief program with remarks from Pastor Estep, and include church leaders and community members, followed by a symbolic turning of the soil.  Media and local citizens are all welcome to come celebrate this exciting development in our community.

Common Questions

Explore the most frequently asked questions and their insights.

Since 2019, our church has seen steady growth across all ministry areas. To accommodate the increase, we need a larger worship space and more space for our Children’s and other ministries to properly serve our community. Our current seating capacity in our preset worship center is 728. This requires us to hold three services to meet demand on Sunday mornings. The new sanctuary will seat 1,200, allowing us to better serve current and future needs. This expansion will also enhance our men’s and women’s ministries and support the ongoing growth of Village Christian Academy.

The capital campaign will kick off in November 2024 and will run for three years, with a goal to raise $3 million.

Construction is anticipated to begin in March or April 2025 and will take around 12 months to complete.

First and foremost, we ask for your prayers as we seek God’s guidance in serving our community. We invite everyone to embark on a spiritual journey and contribute financially to the campaign, above and beyond tithing, as led by God.
