Village Church Worship Team Auditions
Quick Overview
Thank you for your interest in serving on the Worship Team at Village Church. We are grateful for your
willingness to explore using your gifts to help lead our church family in worship. This one‑page overview
is designed to give you a clear snapshot of what to expect before sending you the full audition guide.
Our Heart
The Worship Team is a ministry first, not a performance. Musical skill is important, but character,
humility, preparation, and a heart for worship matter even more. Our goal is to serve the Lord well, serve
our congregation faithfully, and create a healthy, unified team.
What the Audition Process Looks Like
1. Initial Conversation
You’ll begin with a brief conversation and follow‑up email.
2. Preparation
You’ll receive:
• Worship Team Guidelines (to read and sign)
• 3 songs specific to your instrument or voice
• Lyric sheets and/or chord charts (for learning only)
• Practice tracks (with and without click & guide)
You’ll be given time to learn and fully memorize the songs.
3. Audition Day
• Auditions take place on stage
• You’ll use in‑ear monitors with click and guide
• Virtual tracks will be used, with your part removed so we can hear you clearly
• No charts, notes, or sheet music are allowed
• 2–4 leaders will be present4. Feedback & Follow‑Up
You’ll receive honest and encouraging feedback after your audition. Decisions are made after review, and
we’ll follow up with next steps.
What We’re Looking For
• Musical preparation and accuracy
• Comfort with click and in‑ears
• Ability to play or sing parts as arranged
• Teachability and a good team attitude
• Consistency, humility, and a heart for worship
Nerves are normal—we understand that and look beyond them to see potential.
If You’re Invited to Move Forward
• You’ll enter an onboarding phase (typically about 4 weeks)
• Attend Thursday rehearsals (7:15–8:45 PM)
• Prepare all assigned songs each week as if it were Sunday
• Play or sing 1–2 songs with the team at the end of rehearsal
• Vocalists will also sing in the choir before moving to a wireless mic
This process helps ensure long‑term success, consistency, and health on the team.
Final Encouragement
Auditioning does not guarantee placement—and that’s okay. Our desire is to help every person find the
place where God can best use their gifts. Whether that’s on the Worship Team or elsewhere, we want to
walk with you and support you.
If you’d like to move forward just fill our the Worship Team Connection Card and we’ll send you the full
audition guide with all details.
